Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine that originates from China and has been used for thousands of years. Some traditional physicians offer acupuncture. There are also specialists who do acupuncture only. Even massage therapists are getting into the areas of acupuncture, acupressure and reflexology.

A session of acupuncture treatment will take around an hour. Many practitioners will leave the needles in for 30 to 45 minutes. Before, during and after this time you will be monitored closely and your vital signs will be taken. Some therapists will provide a diversion during the therapy such as music or television to enjoy while you're waiting. Depending on your individual needs and how you respond to the treatment, you may require regular and/or numerous sessions to get maximum benefits.
